11/23: Blacksmith Workshop (Albany, KS)

The Northeast Kansas Heritage and Folk School at Albany Kansas is offering an Introductory Blacksmith Workshop on November 23rd from 8:30-5:00.

Have you always wanted to try your hand at blacksmithing but are not sure where to begin? Do you have some experience but are interested on refining your technique? Our introductory blacksmith course is an excellent choice for you. In this class your will go over the various tools and techniques needed to start blacksmithing while working under the supervision and guidance of several veteran smiths. Projects that you will work on center around the basic techniques and processes that you will use in this hobby. Students will make a fire poker, cold chisel, and practice forge welding a ring. Additional demonstrations will be presented as time allows (we tend to go well past the eight hours). We strongly recommend this course to anyone wishing to take the more advanced blacksmith classes.

Tuition: $50
Materials: $20

In addition to this workshop, we will be holding a fiber preparation and beginning spinning class. Make it a weekend the whole family can enjoy!
